Turtle Fishing

We didn't go fishing for turtles, but sometimes turtles happen. Blue gill was our main goal, which the pond by Grandpa's house is full of hand-sized blue gill.


Jesse was fishing for bass. Thus, she knew she had to catch a small blue gill, keep it alive and rehook it onto her hook to use as bait. Which she did all by herself. She is the best little angler.

This guy, though, he took James blue gill bait. I'm posting a video of unhooking him. Pretty sure this is a red slider turtle which are common here in Ohio. J&J&J caught a snapper the last time they fished, so I was thankful this one wasn't a snapper. The video has highlights, one is James laughing. James has the BEST laugh and it slays me as well as makes my heart smile when he laughs. Second to note, is if you have little ones, they may find it interesting to see how a turtle is able to turn itself over if it lands on its back. I didn't know how they did it and caught it on video. Jon knew. The man knows everything.
