Knit Lesson: Horseshoe Cable

The Bella's Mittens (Ravelry link) are made using the horseshoe cable stitch pattern.

The horseshoe cable stitch pattern is worked over 12 stitches. The rest of the pattern is knit and purl stitches.

How simple yet genius is that?! (Subliminalrabbit link)

So basically, you can make the Bella's Mittens if you are able to knit, purl, and work in the round.

I'm going to show you how to do the 12 stitch horseshoe cable. Seriously, if cables scare you, read the previous sentence again.

12 stitches are scaring you. Be bold! Go forth and conquer! I thought cables were super complicated. They aren't. At the simplest, cables are moving stitches. Can you move stitches on your knitting needles? Well, then. There ya go!!!

Here is the 2 minute video. I try to do these in the evenings and Jon is taping. Unfortunately, we live in a neighborhood with teens and their cars are loud. AND the cicadas provided the perfect crescendo music for the conclusion. Good job, bugs!

You'll notice I use a crochet hook instead of a cable needle. Crochet hooks are always in my knit bag, thus the reason I use them. They are also great at "hooking" onto those dangling stitches. Hope the video helps!
