Bunneh Videos

Bunneh, aka Flop McFlopperson, is slowly adjusting to life in the Handy Household.

Flop has met the other two lagomorphs and I'm posting a video of one of their meet and greets.

But first let me explain bunny socials. See, bunnies are in general pretty solitary, only coming together to procreate. A warden of bunnies living together in a small space is completely possible and lots of people do it. Here is the key though, start them out as babies together, they will usually live together peacefully for the rest of their lives. Sometimes moms reject babies when they become teenagers (which I TOTALLY understand), so the bunnies need separated.

Why do they need separated? Because bunnies fight. Remember that movie Summer School starring Don Knotts? There was a scene where the two students were mocking a fake bunny attack with blood? Well, it is completely possible for bunnies to attack. When they attack each other, biting, scratching, shoving, pushing, chasing, all occur.

In the video, my three bunnies are pretty much doing all of these. The bites are pretty restricted to the fur, with none of my buns having sustained a skin bite. I'm keeping the intro's short to make sure they don't escalate to full out biting, fur flying fights.

Bunneh, aka Flop, is an unspayed female, who sprays to mark her territory, mounts to show dominance and is in general the complete opposite of my two boy dumplings.

My two boys have lived with a female bunny before (RIP Spice), so I'm hopeful that after Flop's spay and her hormones settle the boys will settle in with her.

At the moment though, I'm keeping their meeting and greetings short and keeping Flop in an X-Large dog kennel in the bunny room. She is separated, but there is lots of desensitizing all three of them to the presence of an extra bunny in the bunny room.

Here is a video of Flop with a ball of yarn, because no Handy Hooker blog is complete without some mention of yarn.
